It has been said that the Church’s liturgical year takes us from FEAST to FEAST.
But, these past months, our community has been journeying from JUBILEE to JUBILEE.
The closing months of the JUBILEE YEAR OF HOPE (2025) included two joyous community events. First, we celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Profession of one of our Sisters. Family and friends from near and far united with our bride in thanking the Divine Bridegroom for the gift of her Poor Clare vocation and for His sustaining grace over these past twenty-five years of vowed living.
Our Jubilarian renews her vows of obedience, poverty, chastity and enclosure.
Then, we rejoiced as our junior Sister had the first canonical renewal of her simple vows as she already looks forward in hope to her solemn profession which (God willing) will take place in the fall of 2027.
The JUBILEE OF HOPE had barely closed when Pope Leo XIV announced another special FRANCISCAN JUBILEE YEAR in honor of the 800th anniversary of the passing of our Father St. Francis into eternal life.
A special Plenary Indulgence may be gained by those who visit our monastery chapel from January 10, 2026 until January 10, 2027.
We celebrated yet another JUBILEE on June 6, when our Poor Clare community marked the Ruby Anniversary of the establishment of our monastery in the Diocese of Belleville. Our new bishop, Most Rev. Godfrey Mullen, O.S.B. was the main celebrant for a special Mass of Thanksgiving as we thanked God for the blessings of these FORTY years and for the generous support of our faith-filled friends and benefactors.
